Jonny Goldstein, Visual Thinker

jonnygoldsteinWhat do you do?
1) I make cartoons that explain stuff. This could be for a company that wants to explain how its products can benefit users, or a non-governmental organization that wants to explain how to break the cycle of human trafficking in Thailand. When you explain something visually, it seems help people understand it a lot faster and remember it longer.

2) I create visual notes of conferences and events. These help people recall all the awesome ideas and conversation that flew around during the event. For the event host, they are a great benefit to offer participants, and great marketing material for your next event.

3) I speak and provide workshops about visual thinking, communication, and creativity.

What do you wish you did?
I love doing stand-up comedy accompanied by my own hand-drawn slides. If I could do that all the time (with occasional breaks for sleeping and eating), that would be pretty fantastic.

Have you ever been to a BarCamp before? If so, which one(s)?
Nope. Although I kind of feel like my life is one long extended BarCamp. Guess I’ll find out if this is true, once I actually attend an official one.

If you were to lead a session, what would it be about?
A total brain workout using visual thinking. It would involve looking at something through all kinds of mental lenses.

Give us one interesting fact about yourself!
I play a mean blues harmonica.

From down low, that hat looks like the one Maria wore in Sound of Music.
